We are Adriaan, Tassia and kids. In late 2018 we hatched a plan to see the world. Then the questions started – How to see the world ? When to see the world ? Where to start ? Where to stay ? How to travel ? Travel insurance, currency, schooling, medication, travel restrictions, visas, passports…
We wanted to meet people from all walks of life and experience different cultures. Expose our kids to the rest of the world, their way and how other people make ends meet.
We found ourselves stuck – chasing the next dollar. Working long hours and long days. Not spending enough quality time with our kids. Knowing they would get stuck in the same rat race if we don’t show them that there’s more to life.
We will also be doing all the touristy things. We will take our time to explore the history of a country, region or people. We’ll jump off bridges and out of planes. Ride down rivers or up mountains. See the historic buildings, buy baguettes in Paris and chase cheese down the hill in Switzerland. Milk goats in the Pyrenees or stare longingly at the wonder of Stonehenge. Staying in hotels, motels, hostels, houses, buses, caravans or house sitting.
Adriaan grew up in South-Africa and would love to take the family back one day. Tassia and the kids were all born in New Zealand. Tassia travels with crohnes disease and this becomes a factor in our travel plans. Dairy farming has been our life in New Zealand for the last 11 years. Before that we were working in radio and at the YMCA respectively. We are world schooling our children and we believe the world can teach them far greater knowledge than any school ever could.
Our adventure starts here and now…one country at a time.
